Jordy Nelson

        Jordy Nelson has played with the Packers for many years and has moved up the ranks to one of Aaron Rodgers’s favorite receivers.  He is a tall fast receiver who has great footwork and he can create momentum changing plays.  Jordy is a Green Bay guy too.  He just plays for the fun of the game and you never hear him complaining.

Favorite Christmas Tradition

Author's Note~ Our writing circle group choose to write about my favorite Christmas Tradition.  Also watch for my sentence fluency.

My favorite Christmas tradition is when we hide the pickle on the Christmas tree.  My grandpa started the tradition when he challenged us to try and find the pickle after he hid it.  Then this became a tradition and we play this game every year. 

Xbox 360

The Xbox has grown in Popularity over the years.  I think that the Xbox is the new thing for video game devices.  I know for sure that it is one of the most popular video game systems around.  Also the system has a feature where you act as the controller.  “The Kinnect”.  Now many people would not like this if they don’t know how to use but with experience it may be the best video game around.

Fantasy Sports

Authors Note~ While thinking during class I thought i could write a short story about fantasy sports.


     Ever since I was 10 years old I felt an urge to play fantasy sports because people around me were.  At school the talk was not who's on your team for kickball at recess, it was will you accept this trade?  Or how many points do you think Arron Rodgers will get this week.I felt like an outsider not being able to play.  Most kids played everything you can name of.

     I started playing football that next year.  I started out the season really good and assumed this was really easy thing to do.  Then I saw that you had to move players around on their bye weeks.  That season I won my league and it was easy in a way at least.  Then I thought about playing basketball and baseball in this fantasy formula.  I was going to create a fantasy football league including money.

     10 years later and here I am living in a empty dumpster on the west side of China Town.  Barely making a living having a job at McDonald's for minimum wage I was able to buy a cheap little tablet and I thought once more I should try to play again.  I was hooked.  I was able to get a better job at Starbucks and put all my money into a money league.  If I won Toyota would give me 1 million dollars and I could move out of the dumpster because I noticed that it was going to be removed in 2 months.

     Week 17 in the NFL I'm down by 12 points in the Superbowl of my league.I have my kicker and old friend playing.  He's a kicker for the New England Patriots.  I called him up and pleaded for him to do well.  He knew what was on the line for both of them.  If he wins his team is going to be in the playoffs.  Could I win my life will be changed forever.  Later that day I was watching the game and looking at apartments in the area.  Soon I may have food to eat, a warm place to stay ( first time in 5 years).

     2 seconds left 54 yard field goal left for my buddy.  Make it, 5 points for me and a playoff run for him.  How could this be I thought.  The reporter on the field said there was a light breeze and he would be kicking downwind.  The bar I was at had the volume turned up all the way to hear Gus Johnson's explosive play calling.  Here it is; " There is a slight breeze going downwind for this rookie kicker.  The snap the hold the kick is up.  It better turn right it better turn right he said with his not calm voice.  Its turning and IN. HE HAS JUST MADE A 54 YARD FIELD GOAL AND GAVE HIS TEAM A CHANCE IN THE PLAYOFFS.  THIS IS WHY YOU PLAY THE GAME FELLAS INDY IS GOING TO THE 2020 PLAYOFFS!!!! ONE LUCKY FAN HAD HIM AND I GUARANTEE THAT HE WILL WIN HIS LEAGUE.  WHOEVER THAT IS CALL ME UP CAUSE I GOT TO TALK TO YOU".  

     I found his number later that night and there were some news reporters around me asking what  I will do with all that money.  There was one simple answer buy a apartment.  He received the check and was invited to be a part of Madden 20.  I accepted and I ended up really well.  2 years later got married had two kids and bought a house in Atlanta and took a job as the Falcons radio network announcer.  Lastly it can be fun but stop if you get to addicted because you may end up like my life forever.     

Darius Johnson-Odom (DJO) Player Bio

            The starting guard at Marquette has gave himself a great reputation at the University of Marquette.  He has been a starter this year and has shown the country what his team can do.  Marquette played #7Wisconsin and upset them in a great game by 8 points.  Later on national television he was able to upset Washington with a great alley up.  He is a great player but he most likely won’t be in the NBA draft.  DJO is a great guy and should be respected for his basketball skills at Marquette.

Bannanas

Authors Note~ I wrote this short story about a Banana named Bob.  I got the second character is Chuck Norris and I got him from Mr. Graf's Jokes about him.

            One day there was a banana named Bob.  The banana had a friend named Chuck Norris.  Chuckie was a very nice banana other than when he ate other bananas especially named bob.  One day he just devoured bob and bob was alive and dying inside Chuck Norris stomach.  Bob died later that day.

Goin Fishin Review

  Authors Note: I wrote a Review on a book I read.  I wrote this after critically analogizing this book. 

      Lately I have read a book called athletic shorts. Inside that book are short stories written by Chris Crutcher. Goin Fishin talks about Lion and his dad who love to go fishin.  Later that day as the family was out on the boat a drunk captain of a large boat rammed into them and Lion was the only one to jump out of the boat and die.

    Thinking about this I think that the author did a great job of writing this story in Lion’s perspective. In the book he gave the readers a perspective of Lion and some of his friends and relatives.  The author also gave the reader what it would be like not having any parents or relatives to take care of him.  Thankfully he had money to live on with his life.

           When I first grabbed this book I thought it was going to be a book about some jock who thought he was great at every sport that he played.  I was wrong.  This kid was a courageous intelligent young man who took his parents and brother’s death very well and he was able to make a life out of him and money.  This made me think about what I would do if my parents and sister would die.  This took a lot of time for me to think about this.  I wrote this near thanksgiving time and that maybe what I’m thankful of.

           As I think about how the author wrote the story I finally figured that I think the author gave the readers what he needed to deliver the moral of the story. I would say the moral is to stay strong and thankful of what you have because you never know what’s going to happen, especially when you’re goin fishin.

America America!

            Of course I’m proud of my country.  America has been around long and has been one of the most powerful countries in the world.  Many people wonder why and how America has been such a great country and place to live.  America has been a great place to live for many at all times.

            Somehow America has made it through all its tough times.  From the Great Depression to the Dustbowl and the gold rush.  America’s citizens have also helped this country to be so great for their pastimes.  America has been free from the start.   These days America has many soldiers that are fighting for this country’s freedom.  Without them America would be like one of those counties that are in trouble right now.  With our size and people I think our country can be even better for later times.  We have a very strong government.  Many state and National parks restore the country’s beauty.  One of the country’s greatest pastimes was the Native Americans.  We took over and kicked them off their land.  The some of the presidents gave them some reserves to live on.  That is great citizenship.

            This is why America has been such a great country over the years.  From its great tourists to its many citizens America has been a great joy to all.  Our country has also done a great job of remembering our pastimes.  That is also why America gets most of its people moving around and seeing different things.  Without the tourists America would be like one of the countries in the Middle East and people would never want to come here.  Now with our great soldiers and leaders we were able to prevent that and now we are one of the best countries in the world.

            America has been a great place to live for many and will continue to be a great place to live and be a citizen.  With our friends fighting overseas and our neighbors fighting fires and protecting the airspace around us we can have a great time living our lives.  That is what America is all about.

Bear Attacks and LIghtning Strikes

Authors Note: This paper is referring to a fact I found "You're more likely to get struck by lighting the get attacked by a bear".



     Have you ever seen a bear, or a lighting strike? Well there is a reasoning that says you are most likely to get than get struck by lightning than get attacked by a bear. So for all you campers that camp in areas with bears you should be more worried about being struck by lightning than getting attacked by a bear!

     Lightning attacks are an often occurrence on the news if you live somewhere near where thunderstorms strike often. One of the biggest reasons people get hit by people is because they don’t prepare enough. One Example is when people at golf courses see lightning. Most of the time they will say we’ll just finish the hole and then they will get struck. Getting struck by lighting is pure luck but you can prevent that from happening. You should always wait 30 minutes before you go out and play again.

     Many people get very scared of bears and there is a reason why. Bears can be all over and they can attack at anytime. Once again like lightning strikes bear attacks can be prevented but you need to be careful. There are things that you can bring on your trip and there are things that you can do to help you not get attacked by that monster bear. One cheap a useful thing is pepper spray. When the bear is near just spray and hopefully they will go away.

     The bear attacks happen where bears live, and lightning strikes can happen during any thunderstorms. I think that is why lightning strikes happen more often. Another thing you can do to prevent either is think first and prepare. That should be your last resort in any situation. There were 2 fatal bear attacks in 2006. There were 47 lightning strikes in 2006. What a difference!

     Lightning and bear attacks are modern day occurrences that will affect camper’s trips and vacations. With that many people dying each year in the United States more and more people are playing it safe and staying inside during thunderstorms or turning around on a trail that you see a bear on.
